New Rochelle, NY

It was overcast all day on Thursday, September 24 as we prepared to leave our anchorage at 8:30.  We were bound for New Rochelle, NY where we planned to stay at the Imperial Yacht Club.  We cruised along the Conn. coast on remarkably calm seas.  We arrived at the yacht club by noon. We decided to stay here to do laundry and to make it easy for Michael and Debbie to join us.  They will be cruising with us the next day as we go past Manhattan. They’ll leave their car at the train station in New Rochelle and then take public transportation back after we drop them off in Jersey City.

When we arrived in New Rochelle, Jonny walked into town to find a bakery and check out the area which looked pretty interesting!

He found some great Latin markets with great prices and also bought some Delicious baked goods.

Lynn did two loads of laundry and prepared ciambotta, an Italian version of ratatouille, with all the fresh vegetables we’ve been given.  It will be our lunch for the next day.  Also underway was the preparation of the evening’s dinner of chicken and peppers, which came out great!

During the afternoon we were surrounded by rowers  practicing their skills.

Our evening consisted of the usual family phone calls.  When Stephanie called, she brought the unsettling news that her chef was just diagnosed with Covid! Although she hadn’t been with him for a few days and they always wear masks when meeting with each other, she is understandably worried. She and Ryan are going for Covid tests the next day. We are keeping our fingers crossed!  We plan to visit her in a little over two weeks and certainly hope she is not sick! This epidemic is so scary!
